Fall Into Flavors

Fall is officially here on Thursday, but of course, if you follow us at all, you know fall is our jam! We've been enjoying fall decor since August! I do, however, have house rules for fall flavors and scents! September 1st, I begin burning fall candles, but not until the first snap of cold do I start making soups! Come on, cold weather, come on!

Do you love all the pumpkin flavors this time of year? My husband is from the Pumpkin Capital of the World--Morton, Illinois, where they have The Morton Pumpkin Festival every September. You can taste all things pumpkin--pumpkin donuts, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin lattes, and pumpkin chili! That's a LOT of pumpkin!

While I confess, I'm not a pumpkin spice latte fan, I sure do love most fall flavors. At my house, my husband does most of the cooking. He's such a great cook! But, here at the store, Rachel has already been thinking about recipes for the upcoming cooler days. And, while this week may be a tad on the warm side to think about soup there are still plenty of great fall recipes you can incorporate into your meal plans now.

We just love our line of Terrapin Ridge Farms here at the store. If you haven't had a chance yet, hop on over to their website for recipe inspiration using their tasty treats. A few of our favorites for this time of year are:

Cooler mornings just beg for warm, comforting breakfasts. If you haven't made biscuits in a while, I encourage you to make the time this weekend to slow down and enjoy your favorite breakfast at home. Maybe pair those biscuits with some fried apples, bacon and eggs, and a fresh sliced tomato.

The closer we get to the holidays, the more events pop up on my calendar. If you're looking for the perfect thing to take or serve at your next gathering, why not create a fall charcuterie board. Load it up with the flavors of fall --  apples, honey, smoked cheeses, maybe one of our cute new fondue pots filled with caramel or a warm cheese sauce. Or for a dessert party, everyone will love our fun s'more roasting sets!

Fall is coming, and hopefully the temperature will decide to cooperate soon! in the meantime, I'll be over here enjoying my Michigan salad full of crisp apples, walnuts, and a sweet vinaigrette dressing, and dreaming of soups and pumpkin muffins.

Until Next Time,

Joy
